I am curious to know what everybody sees for the future of car modifying / autocrossing / drag racing, specificly for import cars!

I am fairly new to car modifying (3years) and have not done anything beyond the basic bolt ons for my car. My first experince was with my Eclipse GST, which was a terrible experience at that. After taking my car to three different shops in Boston, I discovered that many of the specialty import car modification shops don't know shit beyond the basic bolt-ons. I had my car screwed up by two different shops just because they couldn't install a manual boost controller correctly. My car was so srewed up and cost me beyond the resonable amount that I almost quit the hobby all together. Now I have a GSR and some basic bolt ons, but noticed that my biggest fear (beyond not having enough money) is that someone will screw up my car by installing something incorrectly. I know, many of you do your installations yourself, but I live in an apartment complex and have no place to do the installation and frankly don't have the time. I want to know if anyone else have experienced the same problems with so called professional modification shops and have the same fears as I do? I love this sport, but have nightmares that my hard earned money that I save for months and months will be flushed down the toilet by some bonehead that can't install something correctly.

I want to know from all of you what you want to see change in the sport of autocrossing / drag racing / car modifying? Do you want bigger sponsors? More advertising? Bigger pay outs at events? Do you want to see major auto dealers developing their own hi-performance departments like TRD for Toyota, Saleen for Ford? Of course you do!!! Is any of this happening fast enough or to the extent that you would like to see?

I give alot of credit to the creators of this forum and the groupbuy center along with honda-tech.com for providing valuable information and a place for all of us to gather. Thank you Lundgren and others......

Is their anything more that we can do to help progress these sports? Anyone have any good ideas? I work for a major computer/electonics company that has alot of money (understatment) for marketing and I will see if their is any way to get them more involved in these sports as a sponsor (yea right like they will go for this...but I will try). Is their anyway that we can start a list of 'Certified' shops ....... places that we know can competently install and/or tune cars, so others don't have to go through the same bad experinces???
